Basketball Recap: Eastlake Takes a Loss

Eastlake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Grossmont Foothillers and fell 67-21. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-10.

Eastlake's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mikaela Nafarrete, who posted six points and five rebounds, and Amelia Greer, who earned six points. Those six points gave Greer a new career-high.

Grossmont was led to victory by Jaliyah Fleming and Aakash Price. Fleming went 9 of 13 from beyond the arc on her way to 31 points, while Price dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. The game was Price's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Esther Agoh, who put up six points.

Eastlake's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Grossmont, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Eastlake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 41-29 defeat against University City on the 21st. As for Grossmont, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-43 victory against Del Norte on the 21st.
