Baseball Recap: El Capitan Gets the Win

El Capitan's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Valencia Tigers.

Benny Centeno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cooper Gaoiran, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of El Capitan's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

El Capitan's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Valencia, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-6.

Coming up, El Capitan will be playing in front of their home fans against Buhach Colony at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Thunder have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.78 runs per game on average), something the Gauchos will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Valencia, they will square off against Garden Grove at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Argonauts will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
