Soccer Game Preview: Upland vs. St. Lucy's

The Upland Highlanders/Scots will venture away from home to challenge the St. Lucy's Regents at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Upland's last four matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Upland didn't have quite enough to beat Rancho Cucamonga and fell 2-1. The loss continues a trend for Upland in their meetings with Rancho Cucamonga: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, St. Lucy's lost 5-1 to Etiwanda on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, St. Lucy's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 564th, while Etiwanda are ranked seventh).

St. Lucy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13-2. As for Upland, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Upland was able to grind out a solid win over St. Lucy's in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders/Scots since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
