Basketball Recap: Murrieta Mesa Takes a Loss

Murrieta Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost to the Vista Murrieta Broncos on the road by a 39-25 margin. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-25 back in January.

Among those leading the charge was Jordyn Smith, who posted 11 points and five steals. She has become a key player for Vista Murrieta: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 9-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Shajade Banks, who put up six points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Murrieta Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Vista Murrieta, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-12.

Murrieta Mesa has already played their next match, a 47-25 loss against Great Oak on the 5th. As for Vista Murrieta, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-40 defeat against Chaparral on the 5th.
