Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Carolina Arrieta and Alexa Sixtos Lead Alpaugh to Victory

Alpaugh hadn't done well against Laton recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Alpaugh Buffalos came out on top against the Laton Mustangs by a score of 35-27. This was a revenge game for the Buffalos: when they faced off against the Mustangs two weeks ago, they had to take a 31-23 defeat.

Alpaugh was led to victory by Alexa Sixtos and Carolina Arrieta. Sixtos almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards, while Arrieta went 6 for 15 en route to 18 points and four steals. Sixtos has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Alpaugh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why Laton lost, don't look at Gabriella Alvarado. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 48.1% of Laton's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Madison Heffley, who scored six points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Alpaugh has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-13 record this season. As for Laton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Alpaugh has already played their next match, a 1-0 win against Kern Resource Center on the 7th. Laton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
