Basketball Recap: El Rancho Takes a Loss

El Rancho extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-4. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Alta Loma Braves. That's two games in a row now that the Dons have lost by exactly two points.

Alta Loma's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Alta Loma found their leader in sophomore Mia Valle, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Valle has scored at least a third of the Braves' points. Another player making a difference was Finley Baird, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Coming up, El Rancho will take on Beverly Hills in a tournament on Monday. The Dons will be up against the Normans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Alta Loma, they are taking a road trip to challenge Fontana at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
