Basketball Recap: Sheldon Takes a Loss

Sheldon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 71-55 fall against the Monterey Trail Mustangs. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 63-48 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Sheldon saw an underclassman step up: freshman Saniah Wiley went 11 for 20 on her way to 25 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jemiah Mallari, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Sheldon's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Monterey Trail, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5.

Sheldon will venture away from home to face off against Cosumnes Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monterey Trail, they will face off against Elk Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
