Soccer Game Preview: Houston County vs. River Ridge

The Houston County Bears will venture away from home to square off against the River Ridge Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Houston County's victory against Perry wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Panthers on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Houston County were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, River Ridge earned a 3-1 victory over Hillgrove on Wednesday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering River Ridge's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Hillgrove are ranked 113th).

River Ridge hit Hillgrove with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Santi Parrado, Gael Vargas, and Kamren Kirklen.

Houston County pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four matches. As for River Ridge, their record now sits at 10-6.
