Basketball Recap: Aniyah Venegas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Golden West over Porterville

Golden West lost against Porterville back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Golden West Trailblazers took a 38-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Porterville Panthers. The Trailblazers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Golden West lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aniyah Venegas, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Venegas' 18th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Dominguez, who posted seven points.

Golden West's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Porterville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.

Golden West will be playing in front of their home fans against Redwood at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Porterville, they will welcome Mission Oak at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Porterville is facing Mission Oak at the right time seeing as Mission Oak is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
