Softball Recap: Seneca Comes Up Short

After flying high against Nevada on Tuesday, Seneca came back down to earth. The Indians fell just short of the Monett Cubs by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Cubs: they've now lost five in a row.

Kynlee Sommer spent all 11 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Kordy Hancock was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-6 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season.

Seneca's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Monett, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-12.

As of now, neither Seneca nor the Cubs have any future games scheduled.
