Softball Game Preview: Parkway North Vikings vs. St. Dominic Crusaders

The Parkway North Vikings will venture away from home to take on the St. Dominic Crusaders at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkway North is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Parkway North lost 13-2 to Parkway Central on Monday.

Meanwhile, St. Dominic was able to grind out a solid win over Incarnate Word Academy on Thursday, taking the game 11-6. The victory continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Red Knights: they've now won six in a row.

Abigail Mandrell was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Mandrell was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ana Fleck, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylie Mills, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

St. Dominic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Incarnate Word Academy only posted an OBP of .357.

Parkway North's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for St. Dominic, their record now sits at 11-7.

Parkway North suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to St. Dominic in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
