Basketball Recap: Redwood Rangers vs. Shafter Generals
Redwood lost against Shafter back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Redwood Rangers took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shafter Generals.
Despite the loss, Redwood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jordan Powell went 5 for 9 on her way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Powell. The team also got some help courtesy of Citali Barajas, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Redwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 22 consecutive games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shafter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isela Lugo, who went 6 of 8 en route to 18 points along with six boards and five assists. Lugo has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played.
