Baseball Recap: Scituate Takes Down Ranked Classical

Scituate faced Classical in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Lady Purple/Athena with a sharp 10-3 win. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Bishop Green made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Steve Cronan and Drake Dumont did most of the damage at the plate: Cronan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Dumont went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Cronan has posted since back in April. Tyler North was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Scituate's record now sits at 14-6. As for Classical, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 12-6 record.

Scituate does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Classical, they will take on Times Squared Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.2 runs per game on average), something the Lady Purple/Athena will no doubt try to take advantage of.
