Preview: Wichita County Indians vs. Lakin Broncs
Wichita County is 1-9 against Lakin since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The pair will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wichita County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Lakin is ranked 29th).
After a string of three wins, Wichita County's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 57-50 to Ulysses.
Meanwhile, even though Sublette scored an imposing 62 points on Saturday, Lakin still came out on top. Lakin took their game against Sublette 70-62. The victory was nothing new for Lakin as they're now sitting on four straight.
Wichita County's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5. As for Lakin, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home.
Wichita County suffered a grim 78-53 defeat to Lakin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Wichita County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
