Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ella Connolly and Felicia Bro Lead Mahanoy Area to Victory

Mahanoy Area won the last time they faced Tri-Valley and things went their way on Monday too. The Mahanoy Area Golden Bears blew past the Tri-Valley Bulldogs 54-33. The Golden Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Mahanoy Area was led to victory by Felicia Bro and Ella Connolly. Bro went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc on her way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and six assists, while Connolly dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Bro is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilly Carl, who posted five points and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Mahanoy Area was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-Valley only posted three assists.

Despite the loss, Tri-Valley still got an impressive performance from Avery Miller, who had 20 points and five boards. That was a full 60.6% of Tri-Valley's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Artz, who put up nine points and six rebounds.

Mahanoy Area's record is now 12-9. As for Tri-Valley, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-16.

Mahanoy Area will take on Lincoln Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tri-Valley, they will square off against Minersville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-Valley is facing Minersville at the right time seeing as Minersville is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
