Softball Recap: Winfield Has No Trouble Against Warrenton

Winfield never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Warrenton with a sharp 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Winfield, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Maci Knowles tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Claire Shoemake, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Olivia Van Cleve, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Winfield's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Warrenton, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Winfield is taking a road trip to face off against Holt at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Warrenton, they will welcome Montgomery County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
