Recap: Torrey Pines Falcons vs. Carlsbad Lancers
It was a good run, but the Torrey Pines Falcons unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Carlsbad 53-47. Torrey Pines was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Carlsbad apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on January 9th.
Torrey Pines' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Grace Trusso, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Lily Oliva who scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Averi Kwok, who scored six points along with two steals.
Torrey Pines' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-12. As for Carlsbad, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Torrey Pines the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome San Dieguito Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. San Dieguito Academy has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28. As for Carlsbad, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against La Costa Canyon at 5:30 p.m.
