Softball Recap: La Conner Takes a Loss

La Conner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-6 to the Friday Harbor Wolverines, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Braves were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolverines from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Yamileth Ocampo Contreras was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Gonzalez, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

La Conner's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Friday Harbor, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season.

While La Conner had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
