Pioneer's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Leland Chargers 56-53. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won five in a row.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Saanvi Gunukula, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Gunukula a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Diya Boyapati, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.

Pioneer's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Leland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pioneer will head out to take on Leigh at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Leland, they will head out on the road to face off against Prospect at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
