Baseball Recap: Woodward Academy Has No Trouble Against Lakeside

Woodward Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Lakeside on Thursday. The War Eagles blew past the Vikings 16-1. The War Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Lucas Clark spent all three innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

At the plate, Harrison Lord was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Chance Dixon was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Woodward Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside only posted an OBP of .273.

Woodward Academy's record now sits at 17-4. As for Lakeside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-8.

Looking ahead, Woodward Academy will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lovett at 6:00 p.m. As for Lakeside, they will take on Cambridge at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
