Football Game Preview: Sinton Pirates vs. Wimberley Texans + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Mykha Green and Maverick Jacobs are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sinton Pirates will challenge the Wimberley Texans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sinton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Wimberley likes a good challenge.

Sinton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jarrell 52-21. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Cougars are ranked 281st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marcos Zapata was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 142 yards and two scores on only nine carries. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sinton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 428 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 243 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Another reason for the win was Sinton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Ace Fuentes was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Fuentes is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Wimberley made easy work of Robstown on Thursday and carried off a 45-20 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Texans.

Sinton's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Wimberley, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Sinton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 321.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wimberley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 160.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Sinton couldn't quite finish off Wimberley in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 and fell 36-33. Thankfully for the Pirates, Cody Stoever (who rushed for 146 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 275 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt) won't be suiting up this time.
