Softball Recap: Clark County Indians vs. Highland Cougars

Clark County had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-5 to make it four. They lost 15-4 to the Highland Cougars. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 13-0 to the Cougars when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Chloe Shatley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

As for Highland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by ten runs or more this season.

On Highland's side, Calyn Mathes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Mathes was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Highland got a massive performance out of Akyrah Lewis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Those three RBI gave Lewis a new career-high. Delilah Megee was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Clark County will square off against Canton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Highland, they will be playing at home against Palmyra at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
