Basketball Recap: Belmont Takes a Loss

Belmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Mendez Jaguars and fell 57-18. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sentinels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-14 back in December of 2024.

Belmont's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Mendez, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.

Belmont will venture away from home to challenge Robert F. Kennedy Community at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Robert F. Kennedy Community's defense has only allowed 26.9 points per game this season, so Belmont's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Mendez, they will host Bernstein at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Mendez's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Bernstein has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
