Football Recap: Corunna Takes a Loss

Corunna extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They came up short against the Brandon Blackhawks, falling 44-19. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blackhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Corunna lost, don't look at Carter Milton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 92 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries.

As for Brandon, the win got them back to even at 2-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory they have posted against Corunna since October 4, 2019.

Luke Hanson was a one-man wrecking crew as he picked up 130 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 90 yards and two scores on only 12 carries. That's the most receiving yards he has posted since back in October of 2024.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corunna will head out to take on Owosso at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brandon, they will venture away from home to square off against Lake Fenton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blackhawks will be up against the Blue Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
