After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Montrose, Gunnison was happy to have turned things around  on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Meeker, sneaking past  6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory Gunnison has posted  since August 29th.
 Reese Japuntich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned  (and two unearned) runs on four hits.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Maddy Bacalis, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
Gunnison's win was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 8-10. Those  road  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Meeker, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Meeker beat Gunnison by a score of  11-8 later that day.
