IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) held on for a 17-14 win over No. 10
St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia) in the Battle at the Beach in Ocean City (N.J.). After the Ascenders jumped out to a 17-0 lead the Hawks scored two non-offensive touchdowns to cut the deficit to 17-14. St. Joe's Prep went for it on 4th and 2 and IMG's defense was able to get a stop near midfield with just over three minutes remaining. They converted a few first downs and were able to run the clock out to win their 10th straight game.

Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) had its first out-of-state matchup of the season and cruised to a 48-14 win in Utah against Bingham (South Jordan).
Elijah Brown threw for three touchdowns in the victory and improved his career record to 31-1. The Monarchs have their first home game next week against Creekside (Fariburn, Ga.).

Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) showed off its explosive offense with a dominant 60-15 win over Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) in the Nike Football Kickoff Classic in Oregon. The Gaels have scored 122 points through their first two games as they welcome No. 6
Central (Miami) next week.

Buford (Ga.) shutout St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) 18-0 the Wolves scored the final 10 points to pull out a 10-7 win at
Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.).
Dylan Raiola connected with
KJ Bolden for a 42-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7 midway through the third quarter.
Mario Ventura made a field goal early in the fourth and the defense held on the rest of the way. This was the second consecutive week Bolden had a touchdown reception and interception.

Duncanville (Texas) opened its 2023 season with an impressive 34-13 win over South Oak Cliff (Dallas). The defending 6A Division 1 state champs extended its winning streak to 16. Five-star wide receiver
Dakorien Moore had a monster night hauling in seven receptions for 281 yards and three touchdowns.
