Basketball Recap: Steele Canyon's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against El Capitan, Steele Canyon was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They took down the El Cajon Valley Braves 47-33. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Asia Marie Dixon and McKinley Morgan certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Dixon dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards, while Morgan went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds. Dixon has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last ten times she's played.

Steele Canyon's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14. As for El Cajon Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Steele Canyon will host Helix at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for El Cajon Valley, they will square off against Mount Miguel at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
