Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Johnsonburg). They walked away with a 50-40 victory over the Smethport Hubbers on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rams as it put an end to their 14-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Despite the defeat, Smethport saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madelyn McKean dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McKean has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Danaka Neff, who posted five points and six rebounds.
Johnsonburg's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-13. As for Smethport, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season.
Johnsonburg has already played their next matchup (against Ridgway), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Smethport didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-38 loss against Otto-Eldred on the 5th.
