Point Loma and Patrick Henry are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Point Loma Pointers will head out on the road to face off against the Patrick Henry Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Point Loma is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Point Loma is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Christian on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Point Loma was outmatched by Christian and fell 80-9. The contest marked the Pointers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Hannah Smith, who posted four points and eight rebounds. She has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times she's played.
Even though they lost, Point Loma smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Patrick Henry was able to grind out a solid victory over Del Lago Academy on Saturday, taking the game 48-38.
Patrick Henry's win came from a few key players Point Loma will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ayla Collins, who went 6 of 12 en route to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Ally Mangahis was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.
Point Loma's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Patrick Henry, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Point Loma has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 41.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Patrick Henry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Point Loma came up short against Patrick Henry in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 47-43. Can Point Loma avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
