Basketball Recap: Wilcox-Hildreth Takes a Loss

Wilcox-Hildreth played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 53-29 to the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Despite the loss, Wilcox-Hildreth saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kinley Hansen posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Taryn Arbuthnot was nothing short of spectacular for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller: she almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine boards. What's more, Arbuthnot posted four steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mia Scoville, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 12 points and three steals.

Wilcox-Hildreth's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Wilcox-Hildreth will look to defend their home court on Friday against Alma at 6:00 p.m. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, they will venture away from home to take on Elm Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
