Football Recap: Hickory Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home + How To Watch

Hickory had won four straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 6-1 to make it five. They took down the Maiden Blue Devils 38-21. The win almost wasn't to be: the Red Tornadoes were down 21-7 in the second quarter.

It was another big night for Jaheem Jenkins, who rushed for 174 yards and four TDs. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Hickory didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brett Rowland and Dorrian Medley. Hickory received some extra help from Jashaelyn Saddler, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

As for Maiden, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-2 record. They were up 21-7 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

When it comes to explaining why Maiden lost, don't look at Grant Lawing. Despite the final result, he threw for 250 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 58 yards and one score.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory will face off against West Iredell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 11.7 points per game this season, so the Red Tornadoes' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Maiden, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bandys at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
