Basketball Recap: Great Oak Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Great Oak won the last time they faced Murrieta Mesa and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Great Oak Wolfpack blew past the Murrieta Mesa Rams 47-25. Given the Wolfpack's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Rams are ranked 825th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Great Oak got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brianna Thomas out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Thomas a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Jaiden Nieto, who posted nine points.

Great Oak has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Murrieta Mesa, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-20.

As of now, neither Great Oak nor Murrieta Mesa have any future games scheduled.
