Recap: Granada Hills Charter Highlanders vs. Oaks Christian Lions
The Granada Hills Charter Highlanders won the last time they faced the Oaks Christian Lions, and things went their way on Friday too. Granada Hills Charter came out on top against Oaks Christian by a score of 54-46.
Granada Hills Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalie Melendez, who scored 11 points along with 6 steals. Melendez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Emma Perez was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Oaks Christian's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Presley Kushner, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Woodward, who scored 5 points along with 14 rebounds and 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Oaks Christian were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Granada Hills Charter only pulled down five.
Granada Hills Charter's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Oaks Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Granada Hills Charter is on the road again on Saturday and play against Notre Dame (SO) at 4:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Notre Dame (SO) is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Oaks Christian, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Foothill Tech at 6:30 p.m. on December 7th. Foothill Tech presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Oaks Christian in California (Foothill Tech is ranked 159th, while Oaks Christian is ranked 684th).
