Softball Recap: Palmer Ridge Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Palmer Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pueblo East Eagles a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Pam Boyarko was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Palmer Ridge let Kayleigh Garcia and Macy Smith run wild. Garcia went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Smith went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Corinna Arellano, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Palmer Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo East only posted an OBP of .250.

Palmer Ridge pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pueblo East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Palmer Ridge nor Pueblo East have any future games scheduled.
