Basketball Recap: Mt. Shasta Comes Up Short

Mt. Shasta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Etna Lions. The Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lions from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Mt. Shasta lost, don't look at Kaley Lanier. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. Lanier is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jenna Lee was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Mt. Shasta's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Etna, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-11.

Mt. Shasta has already played their next match, a 57-31 defeat against Trinity on the 21st. As for Etna, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-23 loss against Fall River on the 21st.
