Football Game Preview: Lunenburg Blue Knights vs. Ayer Shirley Panthers

For the first time this season, Lunenburg will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to take on the Ayer Shirley Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lunenburg's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Abby Kelley Foster to the tune of 55-0. The Blue Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Ayer Shirley made easy work of Southbridge on Friday and carried off a 34-8 win. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

Lunenburg pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.8 points over those games. As for Ayer Shirley, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Lunenburg skirted past Ayer Shirley 20-18 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
