Softball Recap: Chase County Comes Up Short

Chase County extended their losing streak to 16 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-16. They lost 16-0 to the Kearney Catholic Stars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Longhorns of the 17-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Kearney Catholic, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 21-5. The result was nothing new for the Stars, who have now won 18 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Kearney Catholic's part, Ashley Green was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Green a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Ruyle, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Chase County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-0 defeat against Cozad on the 2nd. As for Kearney Catholic, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-3 win against Southern Valley/Alma on the 30th.
