Basketball Recap: Casa Roble Comes Up Short

Casa Roble lost against Destiny Christian Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Casa Roble Rams lost 46-21 to the Destiny Christian Academy Lions. The contest marked the Rams' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Casa Roble saw an underclassman step up: freshman Bailey Maloney went 6 for 15 en route to 13 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Casa Roble smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Destiny Christian Academy was led to victory by Malay Walls and Aaliyah Wilcox. Walls went 5 of 12 on her way to 15 points and four steals, while Wilcox posted 15 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Those five assists gave Wilcox a new career-high. Adi Johnson was another key player, putting up six points along with seven boards and four steals.

Casa Roble dropped their record down to 8-14 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Destiny Christian Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-11.

Casa Roble didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-16 defeat against Rio Linda on the 31st. As for Destiny Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-41 victory against El Camino on the 31st.
