Softball Preview: Cactus Cobras vs. Goldwater Bulldogs
Cactus is 7-0 against Goldwater since April of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Cactus Cobras will be playing in front of their home fans against the Goldwater Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. Cactus knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with flashy run totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Goldwater likes a good challenge.
Cactus can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Peoria as Cactus made off with a 22-6 victory. With that win, Cactus brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Ciara Anthony made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Anthony was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Cactus got a massive performance out of Charley Enos, who scored five runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Shelby Teasley, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-5.
Meanwhile, Goldwater was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. Their tough 14-0 loss to Lee Williams might stick with them for a while.
Goldwater saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avrie White, who went 1-for-2 with a stolen base.
Cactus pushed their record up to 6-14 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Goldwater, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
