Basketball Recap: Benton Find Success

Benton hadn't done well against Millville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Benton Tigers secured a 54-49 W over the Millville Quakers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 50-41 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Millville still got an impressive performance from Larissa Evans, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. Evans has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 38 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Hippenstiel, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds.

The victory got Benton back to even at 5-5. As for Millville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benton will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Northwest Area at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. Millville has already played their next game (against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
