Basketball Game Preview: Platteview Trojans vs. Beatrice Orangemen

Platteview is 0-10 against Beatrice since December of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Orangemen at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Platteview beats Beatrice with 61 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Everything went the Trojans' way against Mercy on Friday as they made off with a 61-37 win. The Trojans pushed the score to 50-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Monarchs cut but never quite recovered from.

Alexys Mandel went supernova, shooting 67% from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and three steals. Those 18 points gave her a new career-high. Brea Weldon was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 11 points and six steals.

Platteview was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Beatrice put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 48-30 victory over Aurora.

Beatrice's record now sits at 4-0. As for Platteview, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Platteview couldn't quite get it done against Beatrice when the teams last played back in December of 2024 as they fell 62-49. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
