Soccer Game Preview: Dougherty vs. Bainbridge

Dougherty is 1-9 against Bainbridge since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Dougherty Trojans will square off against the Bainbridge Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. Dougherty has given up an average of 4.1 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Dougherty lost 5-2 to Peach County on Friday. While losing is never fun, Dougherty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 308th, while Peach County is ranked 57th).

Meanwhile, Bainbridge entered their tilt with Westover on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Bearcats have won three contests by more than six goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bainbridge pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those three games. As for Dougherty, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Dougherty might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Bainbridge in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Dougherty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
