Basketball Recap: Excelsior Charter Eagles vs. Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lucerne Valley, the Excelsior Charter Eagles were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They secured a 33-28 W over Academy of Careers & Exploration. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Excelsior Charter also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Excelsior Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jazynda Juneau, who scored 20 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Juneau has scored at least a third of Excelsior Charter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexys Gomez, who scored 11 points.
Academy of Careers & Exploration's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of DeIsis Ross, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds, and Sarah Powell who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Ross is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last nine games she's played.
Excelsior Charter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Excelsior Charter will head out on the road to face off against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Silver Valley is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Academy of Careers & Exploration does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
