St. Pius X Catholic will head out on the road to square off against Southwest DeKalb at 5:00 p.m. St. Pius X Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Southwest DeKalb's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. Pius X Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Georgia's top teams: Marist, who was ranked 18th at the time (St. Pius X Catholic was ranked 17th). St. Pius X Catholic came out on top against Marist by a score of 6-1 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Southwest DeKalb had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Tigers. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.

Kameron Scott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Allister Jennings was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Southwest DeKalb's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't).

Southwest DeKalb hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tucker struck out nine times.

St. Pius X Catholic's win was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Southwest DeKalb, their record now sits at 11-9.

St. Pius X Catholic beat Southwest DeKalb 8-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Will St. Pius X Catholic repeat their success, or does Southwest DeKalb has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
