Recap: Duarte Falcons vs. Sierra Vista Dons
After flying high against the Azusa Aztecs last Friday, the Duarte Falcons came back down to earth. Duarte took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dons on Monday. Duarte was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played two weeks ago.
Sierra Vista found their leader in underclassman Cailei Buna, who scored 19 points along with six steals and five assists. Buna is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Haro, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Duarte's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Sierra Vista, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Duarte will take on the Nobles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Nogales and the Falcons are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Sierra Vista, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Aztecs at 5:00 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Azusa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday.
