Basketball Recap: NOVA Academy Takes a Loss

NOVA Academy lost to Capistrano Valley Christian back in January of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. NOVA Academy took a 33-16 bruising from Capistrano Valley Christian.

Despite the defeat, NOVA Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Andrea Torres posted 13 points along with 13 rebounds and ten steals. Torres is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least five every time she's taken the court this season.

NOVA Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

NOVA Academy will face off against Acaciawood at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Golden Eagles at the right time seeing as the Golden Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, they are taking a road trip to square off against San Gabriel Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Gabriel Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
