Softball Game Preview: Edmund Burke Academy Spartans vs. Screven County Gamecocks

The Edmund Burke Academy Spartans will face off against the Screven County Gamecocks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Gatewood hit Edmund Burke Academy with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gators. Spartans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Gators since Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Screven County entered their tilt with Burke County on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Bears. The result was nothing new for the Gamecocks, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Edmund Burke Academy now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Screven County, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Edmund Burke Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Screven County when the teams last played back in August, winning 8-3. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Gamecocks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
