Basketball Recap: Wilmington Greyhounds vs. Kennedy Catholic

After flying high against Farrell last Monday, Wilmington came back down to earth. The Wilmington Greyhounds took a 70-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kennedy Catholic on Thursday. It was the first time this season that the Greyhounds let down their fans at home.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennedy Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Layke Fields, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. Fields is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 47% in the last 34 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Bella Magestro, who went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and six assists.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 19-2. As for Kennedy Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilmington will square off against Fairview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kennedy Catholic, they will challenge Wheeling Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
