Basketball Recap: South Philadelphia's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

South Philadelphia entered their contest against Martin Luther King on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The South Philadelphia Rams fell just short of the Martin Luther King Cougars by a score of 48-46. The Rams were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in January of 2023.

South Philadelphia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was India Brooks, who posted 25 points. Justine Cardona was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Martin Luther King to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tamia Hill, who earned 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janae Savage, who put up 14 points.

South Philadelphia's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5-1. As for Martin Luther King, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-7.

South Philadelphia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Martin Luther King, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Baldwin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
