Baseball Recap: Hilltop Find Success

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hilltop had no problem doing just that on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Steele Canyon Cougars 5-4. The win was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sebastian Luevano was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Hilltop: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-16 otherwise. Alexandro Cardenas was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Hilltop's victory bumped their record up to 12-16. As for Steele Canyon, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-16.

Coming up, Hilltop will face off against Mater Dei Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. Steele Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
